The Witches

Welcome aboard. I’m Sara, the skipper of Restless and the voice behind the Witches.

I was raised in the woods of Fairbanks and made my way south in 2010 for my first gillnet season in Southeast. That’s where the water got its hooks in me. I hit the Bay in 2014, and every summer since has pulled me in deeper. This past season marked my fourth running my own boat. 

The Witches began as an obsession, not just with fishing, but with the fish themselves. The salmon apparel and accessories you’ll find here were born from my fascination with salmon scales, their art. Every pattern in this collection comes from real fish caught on deck, photographed with a macro lens to capture the hidden beauty beneath the slime and salt.

Moving forward, I want The Salmon Witches to grow into something bigger than a brand, a platform that tells the truth about the people behind the nets and highlights the salmon issues that matter across Alaska.

Bristol Bay is a spell all its own, the last true stronghold for wild salmon, feeding half the world’s sockeye from one wild heartbeat of ocean. It deserves to be seen, protected, and celebrated. Through stories, photos, and the everyday magic of fishing life, The Salmon Witches aims to honor that.
